Self-Education After school

OK, so I thought I was going to be homeschooling my son Isaiah Full time this year, but life happened and so we are doing a modified after school program.

He is in third grade so he does have homework from school, so now my task will be to balance his school work with our home education work. I found an amazing forum for Self Education called An Inspired Education inner circle. It is great because even though it's geared toward homeschooling, I can use this system after school and Isaiah is not overloaded.

This is our first week trying this out, and there are some kinks to work through, but I'm hopeful it will all work out.

I'll keep you posted on our adventures.

Eating on 30-50 bucks a week

I am attempting a new challenge. We are on a budget and want/need to save money. With all of our expenses, it's imperative for us to be wise stewards of our money.

I think it is possible to feed 3 people (2 adults and 1 child that eats like an adult) on 40-50.00 but since I never managed how much I spend at the store until now, I want to see if it's possible.

Today I went to 3 different stores. That's right... you heard me.. 3.  I went to ALDI, the Dollar Tree and Kroger.  At the Dollar Tree I spent 11.00, at ALDI I spent 45.00 and at Kroger I got W.I.C. items- I'm pregnant! Yay!

In total I spent 101.00, but 40.00 was from W.I.C. so I actually spent 60.00... I think this will last me 2 weeks... I planned out my meals and had a shopping list that I followed! Yay!

So here's what we are eating next week:

Monday: Turkey Nachos
Tuesday: Fish, Rice, and Green Beans
Wednesday: Beef Burritos, Spanish Rice, Corn
Thursday: Pot Roast, Salad
Friday: Chicken Tacos

Saturday and Sunday- I haven't decided yet... It will be left overs and most likely a chicken dish

Monday: Beans, Rice, Chicken
Tuesday: Fish, Rice, Cauliflower
Wednesday: Chicken Breast and Pasta
Thursday: Chuck Steak, Potatoes, okra
Friday: Loaded Baked Potato, Broccoli

Saturday and Sunday- I haven't decided yet... It will be left overs and most likely a chicken dish

So this is what I planned for the upcoming weeks.  If it all goes well, I won't have to go to the grocery store until Mid September.

Trust Series Devotional

Jeremiah 17:7-8
New King James Version (NKJV)7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,And whose hope is the Lord.8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,Which spreads out its roots by the river,And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green,And will not be anxious in the year of drought,Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
Trust in God. Trust that He put the right people together at the table. Trust that this year tangible fruitwill be produced because we all decided to trust God and each other. The point is trust in God and know that he’s got your back this year and all of us are here to supportyou during your year being on the table.

Bible study choices: How To - Bible Study Series

One of the best ways to grow within your faith is joining a Bible studies class. There may be classes given through your church, a local church or even through the community or local library. Bible studies can also be given online and can be on any topics related to the Bible. Just a few examples of many possibilities would be Bible studies on the book of Daniel or the book of Esther or how to have a follower of Jesus Christ if you are a new Christian. With so many choices and possibilities, you may be wondering how to choose the best study for you. Here are some tips and strategies that will hopefully make that decision just a little easier.
  • Decide what you are interested in. The Bible is a vast array of stories, faith, love, prophecies and other lessons. You must decide before joining a Bible study class what you are interested in. Have you always been drawn to the book of Revelations? Or maybe the book of Lamentations? Or maybe the life of Jesus Christ? If at all possible search out your interests first. If there isn't any Bible studies on a subject you are interested in you may consider reading the Bible for yourself on the topic, and even suggesting it as a topic of study to your local church leadership.
  • Join with a friend. If you have a close Christian friend, ask them if they would be interested in joining you in the class. If you join any new experience with someone you trust, it makes the situation much more comfortable. Because of this, you are able to focus your attention to the task at hand, which is studying the Bible and building your relationship with Jesus Christ rather than wondering what everyone is thinking about you. Focus on what God is saying to you on the topic through His word, not on what others think.
  • Remain committed. The Bible is a very intense and deep read. Bible studies are usually time intensive. At times you may feel overwhelmed and think that you are not getting anything from the teachings. Of course this is not true because as we all know God is good (psalms 73:1) and nothing from His Word comes back void (Isaiah 55:11). Stick with the Lord, open your heart and remain committed. Pray to the Lord to let the words become clearer to you and profess how committed you are to Him and the Bible study. If you are faithful to Him, He in return will be faithful to you and allow you to interpret the learning with much more ease.
  • Allow yourself to make a mistake. If you join a Bible study and after prayer and careful thought you feel that it is truly not the class for you, allow yourself to move on. The Lord wants you to grow in your faith and your relationship with Him. If you feel this Bible study is not assisting with that, you may want to seek out another Bible study. The purpose of a Bible study is to surround yourself with like minded people so you may study and learn from the Lord’s word. If you are not feeling fulfilled by your group then definitely visit another group. Keep at it until you find the one that you can truly open your heart to and remain committed to. It is also important not to go from group to group without truly hearing from God. Remember stay committed, You won't regret the outcome.
A Bible study class is one of the many tools we have to grow closer in our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and keep our Faith the focus in our life. By choosing a class carefully and staying devoted to the Lord and the teachings of the Bible, we can only become more fulfilled and excited about our growing faith in Jesus Christ.

Oh Ye of Little Faith...

As Christians we must be consistent. We must believe God no matter what.  If you are struggling with an issue right now, let me encourage you to BELIEVE GOD. No matter how bad your situation looks, you must believe that God is God. Once we believe, our faith muscle will start to increase. Here are 3 things to know about faith.
Faith is a choice.
Faith won't matter unless we believe God wholeheartedly.
Faith is Now... Hebrews 11:1
Since we know Faith is a choice, Today is your day to choose... What will it be? I advise you to choose God over your problems, Choice faith over doubt. Read the passage below and allow the Holy Spirit to Minister to you though Gods Words.  He is real, all you have to do is Believe.
    Matthew 6: 19-34 NIV
Treasures in Heaven19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Do Not Worry  25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?   28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
May God Bless you and Keep You.
    Faith Focused.
