Woman in advertising
This was a hard post to write because I’m not quite sure what to say. Knowing the ad is degrading to woman and putting it in words is two different things. Let’s start off with the black background, it is seductive, and bold. This black background at first glance would appear good, but in the whole of the ad it is more powerful than the woman. Half her face is covered which suggest she has no voice, she can’t talk, or better yet, she does not have permission to talk. But she does have permission to where Chanel mascara. There is more focus and more power given to the mascara and the Chanel Logo than the people who buy it; the woman.
